The Science

Red light at 635nm penetrates approximately 8–10mm into tissue — deep enough to reach subcutaneous fat cells, the lymphatic system, and the dermal layer where collagen is produced.


When 635nm light reaches fat cells, it triggers photobiomodulation — light energy absorbed by mitochondria stimulates a process that temporarily opens pores in the fat cell membrane, allowing stored fatty acids to release into the interstitial space where the body can metabolize them naturally. The fat cell isn't destroyed — it simply empties and shrinks.
